What can postcards tell us about how people understood their lives?
Welcome to #AllinfortheSemiquin: Postcards and Public Memory at Delaware 250, an online exhibit exploring the diverse ways in which the First State's history has been remembered, one memento at a time.
The United States of America and the State of Delaware both celebrate two hundred and fifty years of independence in 2026. As Delawareans prepare to commemorate these major milestones, what are they considering important about their state and its history? What places, figures, and events have been seen as "worth" commemorating in the past, and how are they being remembered today? And why might postcards, as archived objects and material evidence of commemorative acts, be the perfect medium to shed some light on the complex factors behind these questions?
